2. Parents Help Notes and Questions

Every child must be registered prior to playing any games or training. The players must fill out a club registration form, and players AND parents must sign a players and parents contract under the code of practice adopted by the club in 2004.
You will also be expected to sign Dublin League form (which must be accompanied by a copy of a birth or baptism certificate - not an original - for all players who have not previously registered with the Dublin League)

Below are answers to some frequently asked questions

How do we know when and where for Match Venue/ Time?
The Team Manager will give the fixture time and place at the training session prior to the match.
Fixtures for the following weekend are always on the Ardmore Rovers website and Facebook page, the DDSL Scoreweek website,(see the links on the home page), as well as in Monday's Herald newspaper.

How do we know if a match is cancelled?
The Manager will inform you at the training session or by phone or text.

What about Kit / Gear ?
The club supplies Socks and Shorts as part of the membership fee and the Jersey is given out at the match.
You can source any further Socks or Shorts from your child's Manager at cost price. Normally you will get the season out of the Socks and Shorts, so the following year you get new ones and last years ones can then used for training. Tracksuits and Rain Jackets may be sourced again through the Manager a cost price.

How come my child never gets a full match at 7 a side?
Seven a side rules are such that at least 3 players from the squad/panel must be substituted with 3 others during the game and so about 60% of the squad/panel are changed during a match.

Who do I contact for more information?
If unsure of anything relating to matches or training, you should contact your Manager (a list of managers phone numbers are available on this website.) or you can ring the Chairman.

What if I have a complaint or worry that I cannot discuss with my child's Team Manager?
Although such occasions are very rare, it does infrequently happen that parents have problems or queries that are not suitable for discussion with the Team Manager.
If it is to do with the welfare of your child or indeed another child, please feel free to contact our Children's Officer as indicated on the contacts page of the website.
If your complaint is a general complaint, or in the unlikely event of the Manager not giving a satisfactory response - please feel free to contact the Club Chairman or Vice-Chairman (contact numbers also contained in the contacts page of the website), who will always be available to give such assistance as they can with ANY problems that prevent the players from enjoying football.

Training Days

Gear
Make sure your child has the correct gear i.e. Boots / Shinguards / Jersey, Socks and Shorts (not their match gear).
It is also advisable to ensure that he or she has a coat, as they tend to perspire during training and will need to keep warm afterwards. Finally a drink of water, in a seal-able container.

Time Schedule
Arrive at the correct time as instructed by the Manager and please do not drive off without the knowledge that at least one of the Managers / Coaches are in attendance.
Arrive back a few minutes before finishing time and if you are going to be late, ensure you tell the Manager or Coach. It is very unfair to arrive much later than expected, as the Manager will have to wait until every child has been collected

Discipline
Our aim is to ensure that your child’s involvement with Ardmore will be an enjoyable and memorable one. In order to achieve this, Managers need to maintain a certain level of discipline within the team. However, the best form of discipline is self discipline and ideally that’s what we expect from our players.

As a Club we will not tolerate bullying or harassment of team-mates in any shape or form. No one player is bigger than the team.
If a Manager considers that a player’s attitude or actions are disruptive to the well-being of the team, he/she is permitted to exclude them from training or games, however, no other form of discipline is permitted.
Thankfully, cases of disciplinary action are rare, but when such action is deemed unavoidable, the Manager will inform the Parent of the reasons. If the situation does not improve the Player may, following a decision by the Club’s Executive Committee, be suspended or expelled from the Club.

Discipline is very important at training and if there is an occasion where the Manager has seen fit to exclude your child from a particular exercise as a form of discipline, there must have been a good reason and this should be discussed with the Manager in private.

Match Days

Gear
Make sure your child has the correct gear i.e. Boots / Shinguards / White Shorts / Maroon Socks, and a coat (suitable for the conditions on the day), to wear while on the touchline in the event of being a substitute.

Drinks
The drink should be a still one – fizzy drinks can cause a noticeable deterioration in performance on the pitch. Isotonic and sports drinks take about half an hour (longer for the older children) to have their full effect, so a bottle of Isotonic drink at half-time in a Super-Sevens game has little effect, (other than psychological) on performance during the match, but guarantees a hyperactive child in the car on the way home!

Timing
Arrive at the correct time as instructed by the Manager or Coach. For away games, the team usually meets somewhere in Bray and the team travels together. It’s important especially as kids get older to offer to help with transport. If a player is unavailable for the match, please ring or text the Manager so that He or She is not waiting for someone who is not going to arrive.

Help and Support
On arrival at the pitch (home games) you will be of immense support if you help with nets and corner flags.
You may find that the manager will ask you to help keep control of the footballs, as during the game it is impossible to manage a team, watch the match and look after the equipment.

At half time allow the Managers and Coaches to talk to the children on their own.

At the end of the match, again give the Manager just a few minutes with the children if he wishes and help again with the nets and posts and most importantly collection of the footballs if they require it.

Offering to wash gear is always welcome, as some managers will never ask. You will not be expected to do this each week and if parents get together they will only get it every 3 Months
